Military Service: The name of Gurden Hutchins appears twice in the records of War of 1812 soldiers in Ohio: as a sergeant in his brother Captain Asa Hutchins' Company (in which another brother Samuel served), serving from August 24 to November 11, 1812, and as a sergeant in Captain Jedediah Burnham's Company, serving from August 24 to November 10, 1812, and from January 1 to February 28, 1813. Captain Hutchins' company was part of the 3rd (Hayes') Regiment, Ohio Militia.[1]
