Nathan Bailey Derrow Tyler or N. B. Tyler, as he preferred, was born July 14, 1828, in Vienna Township. He was the son of Abel Tyler and Sylvia Lewis. It is likely he was named for Reverend Nathan Bailey Derrow, minister of the Vienna Presbyterian Church, who died in 1828.
N .B Tyler established Tyler Rifle Works in Vienna Township in 1852 where rifles, shotguns, pistols, ammunition, and hunting knives were manufactured.
He also served for a time as Vienna's postmaster.
N. B. Tyler married Mary Elizabeth Williams on February 10, 1848, in Vienna.
